In the Thick of It

It's been a while since I posted here, but I will continue to post eventually. Right now you could say that I'm busy going from theory to practice. I'm working to finish a bunch of work, and I'm planning a move to a new job and a new location, to occur in a few weeks. It's times like this that I see whether what I wrote holds up to the test of stress in real life.

This website is mostly for you all out there who are trying to stay healthy in a demanding world, but it's also partly a reference for myself. I've referred back to it a few times to remind myself about how I've dealt with being overwhelmed in the past, as I face down being overcommitted right now.

In the long run, I won't be overcommitted, but right now I am balancing numerous responsibilities and commitments that all require attention before I move to my new job. I skimped on sleep a bit in the last few weeks, and I paid a price in my mood and my productivity. After a few nights getting a more normal amount of sleep, I have been doing much better.

My food intake has been not so great, heavy on coffee and ice cream. What's keeping me feeling good though is that I'm also making an effort to get some vegetables and fruit every day, and some protein intake.

As for exercise, I can only fit in about 2 days per week lately, for less than 90 minutes. It's not much, but it's better than nothing.

In the long run, I need to do better in order to be healthier. In the short run, I need to get through my current obligations in order to make it to the next level with my work and my projects. Such is the way life goes in our modern world, and I will continue to meditate on how to harmonize this world with the needs of the human body, mind, and spirit.
